Norm is an award-winning, multi-disciplinary video and film editor that integrates creative, technical and client skills for commercial, corporate, hi-tech, music, documentary web & broadcast productions; balancing editorial, motion graphics, music and sound design to create powerful presentations.
He was Senior Editor and Production Technical Director at San Francisco's premier post house, One Pass Film & Video, for several years. His freelance career began when Joni Mitchell asked him to join her in Los Angeles to edit a one-year film project based on her 'Wild Things' album and tour. He then returned to the Bay Area to join Neil Young on a 9-camera concert film directed by the late Hal Ashby. Some years later Norm created Mitchell's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction film.
Norm's work has since been seen on CBS, HBO, Showtime, MTV, VH1, The Live Well Network and PBS, including Emmy Award winning programs for KQED and KRON. His work for hi-tech companies including Apple, Adobe and SAP have won many awards. He was also an instructor at the Academy of Art University, teaching 'Editing Concepts' in the Motion Picture and Television graduate program.
Recent work has included editing the independent film 'Wade Krause: Pinball Artist' for director Anna Newman, which was selected for the Cinequest Film Festival; a series of national and international 30-minute commercials for The Dean Martin Shows, The Carol Burnett Show and The Midnight Special DVD collections; a Blu-ray promotion DVD project for Disney Home Entertainment and Monster Cable which was distributed to over three million consumers, and a commercial package for Chase Bank.
He tries to bring solid principles of strong, rhythmic editing and engaging story telling to all his projects, regardless of their budget or genre.
